Cottage. Built c1904 (q.v. The Lodge) for Reginald Hart Prance,
probably by Ernest Newton. Coursed squared and dressed limestone;
thin stone slate roof; coursed squared and dressed limestone
stack. Square plan with raking finely dressed corner buttresses;
lean-to extension on west side not of special interest. Single-
storey and attic. Six-light stone-mullioned canted bay window at
the north-east corner; 6-light canted roof dormer with a conical
roof. Three-light stone-mullioned casement to the ground floor of
the north front; similar casement to south front with tall 3-light
wood mullioned casement with transom and hipped roof above. Open-
sided porch with a square column, tapering towards the top at
south-east corner; two round-headed arches with moulded keystones
on each side. Pyramidal roof rising up to central stack which is
in the form of a loosely formed quatrefoil. Eaves cornice with
half ovolo-moulding. Single-storey wash house now linked to house
via C20 extension with a single-light casement on the north side;
C20 top opening casement on the west side. Pyramidal roof. The
craftsmanship used in constructing this building, especially the
roof, is of a very high standard. Interior not inspected.
