SO 93 SE PRESCOTT STANLEY PONTLARGE

Church)

GV II

Former open-fronted store with loft. Early-mid C19. Coursed
squared and dressed limestone and pebbledashed lath and plaster;
stone slate roofing, removed at time of resurvey - April 1987.
Rectangular plan. Lean-to extension to west end not of special
interest. Single-storey and loft. South front facing main
entrance to chapel: 4 formerly open-fronted bays divided by timber
uprights on pyramidal limestone padstones. C20 painted brick and
plank doors forming blocking to 3 bays, continuous window strip
over parapets. Far right-hand bay with heightened entrance, open.
Two-light window not glazed, probable former pitching window to
the west gable end. Plank door to loft at the east gable end.
Interior: collar beam trusses with interrupted tie-beam
construction. Floor beams supported midway by posts. A modest
agricultural building in an important position lying in close
proximity and directly opposite the main entrance to the Chapel of
Stanley Pontlarge (q.v.).
