1909. A commemorative monument presented to the town of Southampton by a
resident to celebrate his 60th birthday. It consists of 2 square stone pillars,
the central one larger, surmounted by stone urns and linked by a stone screen.
The central urn has scenes from the History of Southampton, on one side Canute
is depicted rebuking his courtiers and on the other 'The Mayflower' is shown
departing for the New World. The handles are in the form of prows of ships.
The other urns are decorated with lions head masks, swags and flowers.
