9/26 WOLVERTON

C16, 1725, C20. Late-medieval timber-framed house of 3 bays, with a massive
(inserted) stack, later lower eastward extensions, from the north-east corner, and
reclad in brickwork at the 2nd date, and with small modern additions. 2 storeys,
irregular fenestration. Tile roof, ½-hipped to the main block; shafted stack. The
framework is exposed in the gables, otherwise walling is of red brickwork some English
bond but mostly Flemish bond, with a 1st floor band and cambered openings, a plinth
round the north end, where the upper walling has large figures of blue headers,
showing the date 1725. Casements, some old leaded lights, one Gothic frame. Plain
door beneath a modern tiled and gabled canopy on posts; other modern entrances.
