Church of St Paul
1845, by Thomas Hellyer, tower of 1860. Early English style: nave of 5 bays with
aisles, chancel with south side vestry, south porch, tower at the north-west corner.
Slate roof (no clerestories). Flint walling with stone dressings; hoodmoulds,
buttresses, strings, plinth. Coupled lancets below small quatrefoils. Geometrical
tracery to the large east and west windows. The slender tower of 3 stages has coupled
corner buttresses and a broach spire with lucarnes. Inside, there is ashlar walling,
octagonal columns with moulded caps and bases, a hammer-beam roof; and contemporary
