The Round House


Early C19. Formerly the lodge to Stoke House, being a 2-storeyed octagon (with one
opening to each face), with a modern single-storeyed outshot at the south side.
Cone-shaped thatch roof, with central brick octagonal stack. Red brick walling in
Flemish bond, rubbed flat arches, stone cills, plinth. Cast-iron diaper casements,
some openings now filled as brick panels. Six-flush-panelled door in an architrave,
and panelled reveals, framed by stucco columns supporting a heavy lintol with a
recumbent figure on top.
