south east of farmhouse

Purpose built ornamental dairy. c1869. Flemish bond brickwork with tiled roof
and terracotta ridge tiles, swept low to form a verandah on either side
supported on 4 wooden chamfered piers with curved brackets. Gable ends have
fretted bargeboards. 2 casements to each side, retaining sliding wood and
gauze partitions to keep out flies. Plank door (originally with gabled
weatherporch). Interior has the upper part whitewashed with a deep cornice
inspired by Indian architecture and white tiling to the lower part with a
border of blue and white tiles with Greek key design. Slate shelves. An
unusually fine and complete example of a farm dairy.
