Listing Text

Lower Mill House


Early C19. Two-storeyed house with symmetrical facades of 3 windows on the south-west and north-east elevations. Hipped slate roofing. Red brick walling in Flemish bond, with rubbed flat arches, stone cills, and plinth. Sixteen-light sash windows. A Tuscan Bath stone porch on the north-east front has a blocking course, full entablature, unusual cap and base mouldings to columns and pilasters, enclosing a doorway with diagonal-patterned fanlight. The other front has a round-headed doorway with fanlight, with a modern arched canopy on thin pilasters and 6-panelled door.
