4/35 Barn and Stable
(20 yards south-east
of Forton Farmhouse)


Barn, and workshop. C18, with early and late C20 restoration. Timber-framed
barn of 8 bays with aisles (except north-west gable), and 2 wagon entrances,
Queen post truss: boarded walls end hipped roof (now with coloured pantiles).
A low wing connects to the stable (now a workshop), which is a timber frame
of 5 bays with one end-aisle, having vertical wall frame with herring-bone
nogging of brick and flint: whipped thatched roof, brought to a low eaves
above the aisle
