Description

SU 3655 HURSTBOURNE TARRANT UPTON

9/23 Blakes

II

House. Early C19 cottage at right angles to the roadway, with a substantial
C20 addition to the rear, forming an L-shaped block. Flint and brick, with
a pantile roof. The old unit has a symmetrical front (east) of 2 storeys,
3 windows. The walls have regular banding of flint and brick, with brick
quoins and coupled Gothic arches (without middle pier) to the openings, the
centre being filled with brickwork including a blue diamond. Cast-iron
casements of small panes and pointed tops. Boarded door in a plain frame.
The north gable to the road, and rear wall, continue the banded effect. The
west elevation has a small cast-iron casement above a boarded door. The C20
extension has a similar scale with upper walls tile-hung above ground floor
brickwork.
