5/28 Churcher's Barn

II

House. C16 encased and extended c1800. Timber-frame with plaster or flint
infill, tilehung or brick encasing and additions, thatched roof. 1½ storey,
1 bay C16 building with stack bay and 2 bays added C18. Front 1½ storey,
5 bay, L 2 bays C16. Central ledged plank door in solid frame under large
nipped hood on timber posts. L bays tilehung with fishscale or plain tiles
on upper half. In each bay 3-light casement, except R bay with small 2-light
casement. Above in each bay (except centre) 2-light eyebrow dormer. Roof
half-hipped with stack each end of ridge and large C18 H-section central stack.
To rear frame exposed having close studding with flint infill on lower half
and plaster infill in wider square panels above.
