House. C15, altered c1600, C20 restoration. Exposed timber-frame with plaster
and brick infill, some lower walls rebuilt in brick, painted, C20 weatherboarding,
thatched roof. Plan of medieval hall house of 3 bays, one always 2 storeys,
with later outshot and insertion of massive c1600 stack and 1st floor to hall;
all now 1½ storeys. Plain doorways under 2 swept-down thatch porches on posts.
All windows cast-iron lattice glazed casements, early C19, reused C20 from
another building. Eyebrow dormers. Roof half-hipped one end and hipped at
other, and swept-down above C20 outshot. Interior has main beams supporting
1st floor with moulded chamfers, and fireplace to hall has chamfered bressumer
and unusually worn brick jambs.
