2/37 Pauncefoot
29.5.57 (formerly listed as
Pauncefoot Farmhouse)

GV II

Farmhouse. C16 timber-frame, with C18 and mid C19 extensions. Walls of
painted brickwork in English bond, other parts of red brickwork in English
bond (some blue headers), later walls of yellow brickwork in Flemish bond, two
fragments of exposed framework, cambered ground-floor openings. Hipped tile
roof, with rear (double pile) slate roof. The north-west front has a symmetrical
two storeyed part, of two windows, and a lower older part at the south-west side,
masked by a two storeyed forward wing with an outshot to the south west: the
main front has sash windows, triple to the ground floor. The doorway has a wide
early C19 porch, with a slate covered low-pitched gable, resting on plain columns
and pilasters, a wide plain architrave, and six-panelled (two top glazed) door.
The north-east elevation is symmetrical, of two bays, all filled. The south-east
elevation shows the lower older part with a piece of exposed framework: small
casements and a wood porch: the east side extends forward, and has a half-
octagonal two-storeyed bay, with Victorian sashes. The framework is exposed
within, as well as a large chimney breast.
