Farmhouse, with attached cartshed, now garage and part incorporated in house, and
former privy. C17, C18 and c1900. House, timber framed with wattle and daub
infill, with C18 lst-floor tile-hanging and ground-floor brickwork, and c1900 wing
of red brick in stretcher bond; cartshed timber-framed with weatherboard cladding.
Plain tile roofs, with Welsh slate to cartshed and privy. Brick stacks. House:
2 storeys, T-plan, the c1900 range forming cross-wing and replacing former left end
of original, probably 3-bay, C17 range which has C18 rear outshut. Single-storey
3-bay cartshed, probably early C19, is attached at right end with c1900 privy
attached to rear. South elevation: C17 part on right has thin, orangey, brick in
irregular bond to ground floor; plinth; 4-panel door with overlight and pent canopy
on left; a 2-light 8-pane wooden casement on right to each floor, that on ground
floor below segmental brick arch; roof half-hipped on right and with ridge stack in
line with door. c1900 wing projecting on left has gable rebuilt c1990 with window
of that date, and canted bay window with sashes below. Cartshed on right has
replacement weatherboard and 2 c1990 windows; roof 1/2-hipped on right. Rear:
outshut of orangey brick in English bond below catslide roof with board door,
small-pane casement, and stack at left corner. Cartshed has old tarred,
weatherboard, board door, 2-pane window, and, on left, former privy with board door
in side. Right return: cartshed has 2 open bays with wall posts arch-braced to
wall plate, former doors removed, and weatherboard gable. Left return (c1900 wing):
central 6-panel door and overlight with sash of 2 panes to right, 4-panes to lst
floor left, and 4 panes on each floor of left bay, upper one under gablet; stack at
left end and eaves on right. Interior: in C17 part, sections of timber-framing
visible, including jowelled wall posts, wall plates, and panelled rear wall, with
arch brace; also, in ground floor room, arched niches and original chamfered
cross-beam with lambs tongue stops and moulded bracket at rear. Original features
in C1900 wing include doors, fireplace and stair.
