C18. (date on one of bricks 1764). Red brick with stucco stringcourse. Brick
modillion cornice and coped parapet. Mansard slate roof. 2 storeys and attic with
5 dormers, 2 bows of 3 windows each extend to eaves flanking centre porch. Sash
windows with glazing bars. Porch has Doric columns, pediment, semi-circular fanlight
and door of 6 moulded and fielded panels. This porch is at the head of 4 steps
with iron handrail but the house has lost the railings to its forecourt.
All the listed buildings on High Street and Union Street, with the listed street
lamps form a group, together with Nos 1 and 2 and the Parish Church of St Peter
and St Paul, Church Place and with the Red Lion Hotel and No 10 East Street. (No
45, High Street is of local interest).
