Description

SU 64 SE BENTWORTH HIGH STREET

3/37 Ivall's Cottage

II

House. C18, with C20 extensions at each end. Brick walls and thatched
(some tiled) roof. Front (north) of 2 storeys, 3 windows, with a single-
storeyed projection between 1st and 2nd bay. Roof hipped at the west end and
brought to a lower eaves above an outshot, the lower eaves at the rear being
broken by eyebrow dormers; hipped tile roof to the projection; shafted
stack. Walls of red brick in Flemish bond, with cambered ground-floor
openings, the projection having blue headers. Casements. Late C20 doorway
arranged at an angle. At the west end there is a garage block with a
thatched roof. The rear walls show alterations, with some English bond and
a flint base; with the central fireplace it suggests a C17 origin for the
building, as a lobby-entrance house.
