Milestone. Late C18. Painted stone. Broached square base, cylindrical shaft and polygonal top. Inscribed: Sarum 28, Newbury 5, Andover 10. The Andover and Chilton Pond turnpike was opened in 1766 and this is one of a series of similar milestones on the turnpike.
An unusual example of a late C18 milestone.
