8/19 Bayfields Farmhouse

House. C16, early and late C19. Mixed walling materials, and a tile roof.
Timber-framed hall with south west cross-wing, and a north-east Victorian wing
connecting it to an early C19, stable block; all now a residence. The main front
(north-west) is symmetrical,of 2 storeys, 3 windows; the roof is hipped at the
north end, there are gablets at each end, the front having 2 larger gables. The
upper walls (and gables) and tile hung with bands of fish scale tiles and a tilt,
the lower walls are of stonework. Victorian sashes and a small central casement.
C20 gabled porch, with stone walls, south-west elevation (cross-wing) has similar
features, which return on a south east gable. The rear has an early C19 attached
block, with a hipped roof, similar walling, and Victorian sashes stone casements;
its continuation eastwards has rendered walls. The 'stable' block is a 2-storeyed
rectangular structure, with ½-hipped roof, stone walls with brick dressings, and
casements (2 replacing former doorways).
