SU 83 NW HEADLEY HIGH STREET

Shop premises. Early C19. Brick and tile. A pair of cottages, later the Holly
Bush Inn (with Cobbett associations), now a butchers shop, with a late C19
single-storeyed west wing. A square block, with a symmetrical front (north) of
2 storeys, 3 windows (centre a blank panel). Hipped roof, brick dentil eaves.
Painted brick walls in header bond, the ground-floor wider openings having flat-
oval arches, plinth. Sashes in exposed frames, east side plain shop window within
the old opening. Coupled doorways, one boarded door, the other ½-glazed. The
east side is similar, but without the doorways. The rear shows 2 hips, and stone
walls with brick dressings.
