8/42 Longcross Farmhouse


House. C16, early C19, with minor C19 and C20 changes, and C20 restoration.
Mainly stone walls, and a tile roof. A timber framed house, with a forward
overlapping front on the east side, and with minor infilling and outshots.
The old part is 1 storey and attic, with irregular fenestration; there is a
½-hipped roof, 2 gabled dormers with ornamental bargeboards, partly-exposed
framing with stone infill and other walling, 1 casement and 1 sash window, an
open gabled porch and ½-glazed door. The forward part has 2 storeys 2 windows:
½-hipped roof, stone walls with brick dressings, casements, and a porch at the
west side, which ties with a western outshot (extending back to the older unit
at more than a right-angle). The rear is similar, with a catslide to the
eastern unit.
