SU 73 NE KINGSLEY MAIN ROAD

7/23 Foundry House

House, with 2 flanking buildings. Late C18, c1860, with C20 extension. Brick
walls and slate roof. A foundry was established now, comprising a house set back
from the roadway, with detached flanking workshops (formerly with wagon entrances
at the roadside gables); the back of the house was an earlier dwelling.
Symmetrical front (north) of 2 storeys, 1.1.1 windows, with a C20 extension of
1 window at the west side. Slate roof, the gable to the projecting centre having
a decorative bargeboard. Walls of painted brickwork, rendered in the centre lst
floor, 1st floor band, plinth, plain architrave to. the arched window above the
arched doorway, which has impost blocks and fluted pilasters. Sashes. 4 panelled
door beneath the fanlight. The rear part of the house has a tiled roof, ashlar
chalkstone walls with brick dressings, casements and plain doorway. The workshops
are rectangular brick structures, with slate roofs, all now modified.
