Description

SU 73 NE KINGSLEY MAIN ROAD

7/24 Old Park Farmhouse

II

House. C17, late C18, and C20. Walls of painted brick and stone, with a tiled
roof. A building of several phases, beginning as a timber-framed structure and
having a massive chimney breast attached: the exterior was reclad in ironstone
(with brick dressings), but the altered front has brickwork for the most part:
a rear extension (C18) is of ironstone: at each end there are C20 additions, each
with a separate roof system. Front (west) of 2 storeys, 2 windows (former central
door now a window): set back wings at each side show gables. Plain roof. Walls
show alterations. Casements, 2 ground floor splayed bays with hipped tile roofs
and central French doors. Large C20 ½-octagonal porch in front of the south wing,
with glazing, hipped tile roof, and boarded door. The rear elevation indicates
the several changes, and has a small exposure of the timber frame.
