2/20 Malthouse Cottages
(nos. 1,2 & 3)

Terrace of 3 cottages, once 3 (south side) cottages and malthouse. C18. Brick
walls of Flemish bond, cambered arches to the ground floor, plinth; filled
doorway between 2 & 3. Tiled. Roof half-hipped at the north end, hipped at the
south, with slate catslide at the rear, 3 gabled (north side) dormers with
cills at eaves level. Front (east); of 2 storeys, 1 storey and attic; regular
3 above 3, 3 above 2 windows. Leaded casements. Boarded doors in plain
frames, within shallow Victorian timber porches, each with oval arch below a
pierced trefoil, and wavy bargeboards. The interior of the middle cottage
shows the change of the upper floor level, higher at the north side.
