SU 62 SE EAST MEON EAST MEON

2/11 Drayton House

II

House. Early C19, late C19, and 1964. Rendered front, some walls of flint with
brick dressings, others of painted brickwork. Hipped slate roof. A Regency
house with later additions; symmetrical south-west front of two storeys three
windows, with east side extension (1964) of two storeys two windows. Sashes in
reveals, with shutters to the old part upstairs, the ground-floor having a large
sash, a French window, and a French door in the centre within a reeded architrave.
The feature of the house is a verandah, extending at each side; it has a hipped
slate roof supported on six Doric smooth-shafted columns. At each side the
slightly-recessed walls have niches. The floor within is paved with small
coloured pebbles, arranged in circular patterns, the columns rest on a stone
plinth, and there is a stone pavement in front. The north west elevation has
flint walls, a central round-headed staircase window and an entrance within an
open porch. The other elevations are plain, with sash windows.
