SU 61 NE CLANFIELD

5/12 Lone Barn Farm Barn

Barn. Early C18. Timberframed barn, exterior clad in weatherboarding on brick
plinth with half-hipped thatched roof. Cart entrance to 2nd bay with casements
above and plank garage doors below. East elevation has some old wide tarred
weatherboarding and west elevation has plank door. 4 bay barn aisled to south.
Jowled posts mainly have C18 cut profile but north east corner post could be re-
used. Angled queen strut roof with collar beam, no ridge piece and 2 tiers of
clasped purlins with diagonal wind braces. Aisle roof has staggered purlins and
diagonal wind braces. Some re-used timbers. Part of north wall has early C19
brick wall in Sussex bond.
