5/10 Ivy Cottage

GV II

2 cottages, now one. C16, C17, late C19. Mainly brick walls, with roof of thatch
and tiles. A late-medieval timber-framed hall, with a chimney and 1st floor
inserted, extended as a timber-frame at the west end, and with large east end
addition (late C19) also with a timber frame. Thatch roof over the older part,
with hipped west end brought to a low eaves, C20 tiling to the east side
2 storeys: irregular fenestration. Casements. Plain doorway replacing former
lobby entrance, with a small thatched canopy on posts. Interior: the winding
staircase is next to the stack (now completely enclosed).
