Lodge residence, at the main road (A32) entrance to the Park. c 1820 and late
C19. Stone and brick, with a slate roof. Single-storeyed octagonal structure
of Gothic style, with a porch, and a later rearward extension. The roof shows
only above the extension, with hips. Ashlar Bath stone walls, with parapet having
a coping and drip-mould of Gothic form, plinth: the windows have pointed open-
ings with hood moulds, enclosing coupled traceried casements. Open porch of
stone, with Tudor chamfered arch, and small side windows beneath square hood
moulds: door with Gothic panels. The rear lower block envelopes 3 sides of the
octagon, and has brick walls in Flemish bond, with Dutch-flat arches beneath
hood moulds; it encloses the chimney stack, which has a square base and a group
of 4 circular flues.
