Description

WORLDHAM EAST WORLDHAM
SU 73 NE
2/4 East Worldham House

GV II

House. Late C18, early C19. Walls of ashlar, flat arches, stone
cills. Square block, with 2 lower wings at the north side. The south eleva-
tion is symmetrical, of 2 storeys, 5 windows. Low-pitched hipped, slate roof,
with a plain eaves and simple eaves moulding. Sashes in reveals, some windows
now filled, the south-east side being masked by an open brick verandah.
Central French window beneath a fanlight. The east elevation is 2 storeys,
2.1.1 windows, of similar treatment, ground floor windows lowered, the north
side being a lower service wing. The west (entrance) elevation has a central
porch with a large window above, and 4 other windows: the Tuscan porch has
2 columns, 2 pilasters, and 4 panelled door beneath a fanlight. The rear has
a staircase window in the old part, and service wings of the early (east) and
late (west) C19; the feature of this side is the tile roof, suggesting that
the general Regency form of the building is due to renovation in the early C19
of a mid C18 house. Interior: features are Regency, with a staircase,
panelled doors in architraves, and some fireplaces.
