House. Early C17, mid C19. Walls of brick, now rendered, with a series of
pilasters, intersected by a 1st floor band, resting on a deep plinth, at each side
at the front the band projects as a weathering, with a fascia below separating it
from a flat band with brick dentils on the low side. Hipped roof of interlocking
tiles, indicating a large rectangular block with 3 lower wings (the central
probably later) on the east side, a lower-pitched plain roof above the service
wing, and one hipped dormer in-the centre of the front. The main block with its
extensions now forms an almost square building, with a narrow single-storeyed
service wing added at the north side; west front of 2 storeys and attic, 3
irregularly-spaced windows. Narrow coupled Victorian sashes, mid c19 Tudor porch
of flint with brick dressings, tiled gabled roof, Tudor arch enclosing a ½-glazed
door. The south elevation has 4 regularly-spaced pilasters, 2 above 3 windows
(Victorian coupled sashes). The east elevation has 3 hipped roofs, 4 pilasters,
1.2.1 above 1.1.1 windows (2 being stone mullioned casements, one filled). The
service wing is of painted brickwork, and on its west side is a 'Tudor' porch of
flint with malmstone dressings. Interior: there are massive floor beams and a very
large stack, and the probability of masked C17 details.
