Large town house, now community centre. Mid C18. Brick in header bond, stone
dressings, behind parapet plain tile roof. 3 storey on raised basement, 5 bay,
by 3 bay, with rear being 2 storey. Offset plinth with rubbed arches to end bay
basement. Slightly projecting 3 central bays framed by 4 Doric pilasters on
plinth, supporting frieze, cornice and pediment. Moulded stone bases and capitals
with leaf ornament. 6-panelled central door and radiating and wreathed fanlight,
in panelled reveal with architrave. Doric porch of fluted wall pilasters and 2
columns supporting broken entablature with dentil cornice and open pediment hood. In
front 4 moulded stone steps with wrought iron railings. On ground and 1st floors
12-pane flush frame sash in architrave frame and rubbed arches with stone keys.
Similar 9-pane sashes. Moulded stone cornice continuing from architrave of pedi-
ment, parapet with stone coping. Hipped roof and paired stacks on end wall.
Inside central hall and rooms either side, some C18 features; 6-panel door and
dado panelling, marble fireplaces and staircase. House has flanking short 1
storey high walls with lean-to rooms behind, that to RH has wall coming forward
to street with double door in corner.
