SU 10 SE SOPLEY AVON TYRRELL

Avon Tyrrell House

Stableblock. 1892 by W R Lethaby. Brick with flint and stone chequerwork patches,
some weatherboarding on inner faces, plain tile roof. U-shaped, 1½ storey, 3 bay
front with archway in one bay and L-shaped stable range at that end, behind other
end 1 bay wing, then lower range. Front has to RH bay archway with sloping-topped
gates. Beside 3-panelled door in solid frame. Centre bay has 2-light casement and
over chequerwork panel with date and 'M' for Manners family. LH bay has 5-light
casement. Over 1st floor wide raised band that drops down over centre. Central
4-light hipped dormer, either side 2-light round-headed dormer. Roof half-hipped
to LH and hipped to RH with central ridge stack. To RH single storey, 2 bay
stable range, hipped on end.
