House, now a shop. C18 with C20 alterations

MATERIALS: Painted brick; tiled roof.

EXTERIOR: Of two-and-a-half storeys with a pitched roof. Ground floor: two mis-matched shop windows, both with fascia above, flank a central half-glazed door. The fascia of the right-hand window extends above the doorway. First floor: pair of eight-over-eight horned flush-frame sashes. Pair of tie-plates to right of right-hand window. Eaves cornice. Attic storey: Pair of hipped roof-dormers with diamond opening lights.

INTERIOR: Not inspected.

HISTORY: Originally built as a house in the C18, the building was subsequently converted to a shop.

REASONS FOR DESIGNATION
Nos 5-7. High Street, a C18 house subsequently converted to a shop, is designated at Grade II for the following principal reason:
* Fabric and date: An attractive, modest C18 house on the High Street in Fordingbridge, now a shop, which retains much of its early fabric.
