A timber-framed cottage with brick infill and some rebuilding, thatch roof.
DESCRIPTION: The cottage comprises three bays and a smoke/passage bay, and is one and a half storeys in height. It has a thatched roof with a large thatch hood in front of the right hand of the centre small bay. There is a three-light casement in each bay, and a three-light eyebrow dormer window in the left hand of the centre bay. The roof is half-hipped with a large ridge stack above the porch.
HISTORY: The cottage dates to the C16 with some alterations from the C18.
REASONS FOR DESIGNATION:
Bourne House is listed at Grade II for the following principal reasons:
* A vernacular building in traditional materials, dating to the C16, with a significant proportion of original fabric.
