Small country house, now hotel. Early C18, but older core enlarged C18, restored
1968. Brick, old plain tile roof. Plan of 2 storey and attic, 9 bay main range
with,to rear of 2 bays, on end 2 bay wing and similar to rear of 2 bays on other
side of centre, pitched roof infill between, including porch, and single storey
service range at other end. Garden front symmetrical with wide 3rd bay in from
each end. In centre glazed double doors under semi-circular fanlight with
radiating glazing-bars in Ionic doorcase of pilasters on wide strip supporting
broken pediment. Windows in bays either side and to RH have been replaced C20
by 4 wide bay glazing, with radiating fanlight in top division except to RH
2 bays. In LH bays and on 1st floor, 12-pane sashes. All windows under rubbed
arches. Moulded timber cornice. 5 hip-roofed dormers with 2-light casements.
End stacks and stack over RH wide bay. Other side irregular, mainly C18 with
C20 replacement Doric porch. On 1st floor of end rear wing 4-light timber
mullioned window with brick label and Venetian window on 1st floor of other wing.
