SU 20 NE LYNDHURST CHAPEL LANE

6/32 The Old Lodge

GV II

Lodge now cottage. Late C18, enlarged C19, altered C20. Painted brick with brick
dressings, slate roof. 2 storey, originally large single bay square building, but
½-bay added to front and bay added along rear and the whole given hipped roof.
Front has added ½-bay to LH. Original part has rusticated quoins and full-height
arched recessed panel with rusticated arch having larger key blocks. Inside large
plank door in rusticated architrave, each side small light, and over semicircular
window divided in 2. To LH part 2-light leaded casement. Right across runs narrow
frieze and dentilled cornice. Roof hipped with stack above front wall at junction
between 2 parts and ridge stack on RH return ridge.
