SU 53 SE ITCHEN STOKE AND OVINGTON ABBOTSTONE

8/1 Abbotstone Farmhouse

Farmhouse. C18. Brick with slated roof. Late C18 4 bay range added as parallel
range to earlier, smaller 3 bay building with small wing to rear. Garden front
2-storey 4 bay. Door in 2nd bay from left with early C19 gabled latticed timber-
porch, with 3-light C19 mullions and transomed windows in other bays. Above 4
3-light C18 casements. Tall steep pitched hipped roof with stacks on the rear
face. Farm to left of site of Abbotstone House, home of Duke of Bolton C17 &
C18, with brick walled kitchen garden in front of farmhouse.
