SU 53 SE ITCHEN STOKE AND OVINGTON ITCHEN STOKE

Stoke House

Roadside-wall. Early C19. Rubble flint with brick dressings and bands, and
dressed stone arch, and coping. Wall is in front of house and starts 20m
right of it with stone pedimented archway with vermiculated rustication
with round arch reaching into pediment (opposite front door). To left of
this are quadrant walls to gateway with brick piers at each end and left
of this the wall becomes gable end of a service wing. The archway has a
fine wrought iron gate and may be by George Clarke of Oxford.
