Manor house. Late C17 and early C20. Brick with plain tiled roof and brick
stacks. C17 building 6 bay front by 5 bay side which had 2 bay wide by 2
bay deep courtyard to rear, with facsimile early C20 L-shaped wing adding 3
bays to side and new rear face. Entrance front 2 storeys, attic and basement,
6 bays, on stone plinth. Door slightly right of centre in 3rd bay from right
with mid C19 Dutch gabled porch of blue brick and rusticated red brick quoins
and stone coping. Half-glazed door with radiating concentric fanlight. Either
side of porch C19 camber headed tripartite sash and remains of C18 gauged
brick window arches. Above 1st floor moulded string course and 6 irregularly
spaced window openings with flat gauged brick arches, 5 having C18 12-pane .
sashes. Brick corner giant pilasters with moulded capitals and blue and yellow
Dutch tiles set in necking. Wide flat timber cornice with medillion and C19
cast iron gutter with small lion heads at short intervals. Roof hipped with 3
small flat roofed dormer windows with 2-light leaded casements. Right, garden,
side on the ground floor has 5 12-pane sashes with Venetian shutters. Right 3
bays have in front C20 Doric colonnaded conservatory, continuing to large
domed conservatory to right. 1st floor string course of raised brick. Above 8
shuttered sashes. On roof 5 flat roofed dormers and 2 ridge stacks, left one
C17, both with arched panels on each face and offset head. Inside hall has
early C17 panelling, formerly upstairs and late C17 full height open-well
staircase with turned balustrades, moulded hand-rail and dado panelling, all
altered early C20.
