SU 54 SW MICHELDEVER WEST STRATTON

2/31 The Mount

Cottages. 1880 by E. Newton for Lord Northbrook. Flint with brick dressing ground
floor, timber-frame and plaster 1st floor, old plain tile roof. Cruciform plan of
2 bay building with l-bay wing off-centre to each side. Front 1½ storey, 2 bay with
wing projecting forward left of centre, which is outshot to right, with open porch
in outshot with carved timber surround, and in end of wing 2 1-light casements.
Jettied 1st floor with moulded bressumer and 4-light casement in gable. In right
bay 2-light casement with segmental head and jettied 1st floor with moulded bressumer.
Left of wing has jettied 1st floor which turns onto left end and on ground floor
on end oriel window with coved corbel below. Roof half-hipped to right and central
T-section stack with off-set head.
