Farmhouse. C16 and C18. Timber-frame with plaster infill with C16 brick and brick
and flint stacks, encased in flint with brick dressings and bands, roof slated.
3 bay early C16 house, with baffle entry floored over hall and external stack at
top end, and C18 wings added to end bays at rear. C18 2-panel door with flat hood
between centre and right bays. Sill height string course partly with moulded
brick coping especially at right. In right bay C18 12-pane flush framed sash
with camber head and 2 similar sashes in left bay. Centre bay has large C18 16-
pane flush framed sash. 1st floor raised brick band and 5 C19 12-pane flush framed
sashes, 2 in right bay, one over door and in other bays. Projecting boxed eaves.
Roof hipped with large 2 flued offset head ridge stack above front door and
remains, up to 1st floor window level, of external stack at left with small plate
roof covering with small C20 brick chimney. On roof 3 C19 flat roofed dormers
with 2-light casements. Internally hall with stone flagged floor, large C16
chamfered brick fireplace, and ovolo flanked by cavettoes to main beam and
timber-frame partition dividing off top end (left bay). In left bay on ground
floor early C18 panelled room with corner china cupboard of pilasters on either
side supporting carved hood, and marble fireplace in timber surround with carved
classical foliage, moulded timber cornice with moulded timber box around C16 beam.
In room above a C16 chamfered brick fireplace.
