SU 52 SW OWSLEBURY MARWELL

8/46 Marwell House Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Late C16, refronted and extended C18. Timber-frame encased in brickwork
and extended, old plain tile roof. 3 bay C16 building with parallel range added to
rear C18, early C18 single storey shed added to left end and C18 outbuildings added
to right. Front 2 storey, 3 bay, left half of wall rebuilt C20. Blocked doorway
at inner end of right bay with C20 3-light casement on each floor, that on ground
in cambered head. To left wide stack on blank wall, beyond 2 C20 sashes on each
floor. Roof half-hipped with L-shaped ridge stack to left of centre and external
stack at left end. Above centre bay C20 gabled dormer with 2-light casement.
Inside, centre bay has carved beam of ovolo with cavettoes each side and much of
timber frame exposed.
