SU 52 NW OWSLEBURY MORESTEAD

4/6 Morestead Grove

Rectory now private house. 'WJ1836' on tablet, altered c1910. Flint with brick
dressings main block of house rendered. 2 gable, 3 bay front with to left blank
bay (side of 2 gable, 3 wide bay side), and to right wall and gateway to small
courtyard with service wing at rear. Central front door and left bay have 1910
single storey addition in front consisting of open pediment of same style as gables
above depressed arch and to left 4-light transomed steel window. Original door, in
porch, wide originally 6-panelled top, 4-panels now glazed. To right 12-pane sash
and above 3 9-pane sashes (the central sash and door being below valley between
gables). Gables resemble low pitched double open pediment with eaves continuing
to right over blank bay and round corner to side gables. Wide eaves wide plain
modillions and moulded cornice.
