Public house. Early C19, with restoration and re-fronting of c. 1900. Timber-
frame and brickwork, with a tile roof. The front (north) is an elaborate
example of Edwardian Tudor, applied to a plain building, with gables at each side
above jetties (to each floor): 2 storeys and attic, 1.2.1 windows; single-
storeyed wing at the east side of 2 windows. The gables at each side and the
larger end gables have deep barge-boards with pierced circles linked by flowing
bands; they are set forward at the foot on curved brackets. The front wall to
the 1st and 2nd floor have exposed framing with curved braces, the jetties
being supported on brackets of hammer-beam forms: the ground-floor is brick-
work in Flemish bond, and the plain end walls (of the original building) have
red brickwork in English bond. Casements, splayed bays on brackets below the
side gables, plain lights to the centre and west side ground-floor. Tudor arch
in the centre encloses a splayed bay and a boarded door: the main entrance being
at the west end. The west gable has a small attic window, a 1st floor oriel and
a group of 3 small casements associated with the entrance. The east side wing
is comparatively plain, but has in the centre of the east elevation an oriel
within a gable, with exposed frame and ornamental barge-board.
