SU 43 SE HEADBOURNE WORTHY SCHOOL LANE

6/15 Lower Farmhouse

5.12.55 II

Farmhouse. C16 house, C17 cross-wing refronted C18, restored 1969. Timber-frame
encased and extended in brick with blue headers, old plain tile roof. 3 bay C16
building with C17 cross-wing and stack on side wall to central bay with continuous
outshot to this side from cross-wing. Garden front 2 storey, 3 bay with C18 outshot
to left end. Right of centre C20 French windows in original doorway, with C19 door
moved to the other side. To right one and to left 3 C20 cross-windows in older
openings with segmental heads. In front of ground floor posts to 1st floor
verandah. On 1st floor 3 cross-windows, French windows and 2-light casement at
left. Roof hipped and swept down to left. Inside central room has C17 fireplace
and ornately moulded ceiling beams and much of frame exposed.
