6/14 The Old Rectory

Rectory once 3 cottages now private house. Late C15 hall house with C16 cross
wing, C18 remodelling, restored 1967. Timber-frame with plaster and brick
infill brick encasing, old plain tile roof. 2 storey 3 bay and smoke bay with
at left lower cross-wing. C20 top-glazed door in earlier frame with flat hood
in left bay with beside reset stone bulls-eye, and C20 2-light casement to right,
with beside pilaster strip below stack. Right bay has C20 2-light casement in
camber headed door opening. In other bay, 1st floor and crosswing C20 3-light
casements. Large early C17 stack to left of centre of cruciform section. Left
side wall of crosswing has external projecting C16 stack. Inside behind door
hall with C17 stone fireplace, and early C18 panelling and to rear dog-leg stair-
case with turned balusters and moulded handrail ramped-up at corners and curled
at ends. In cross-wing on both floors C16 3-centred moulded stone fireplace.
