SU 52 NW ITCHEN VALLEY A31

10/10 Matterly Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Mid and late C18, earlier core. Brick with blue header chequer
work, old plain tile roof. L-shaped with one wing mid C18 and the other
added late C18, older wing outshot to entrance front with added porch.
Garden front 2 storey 3 bay, left bay late C18. C19 top-glazed door in panelled
reveal with moulded brackets to flat hood, to left of centre at end of earlier
part. Windows are purpose made 1930s steel windows in original openings with
segmental heads of 2 soldier courses originally having sashes except for the
bottom right opening which is much smaller. Dentilled eaves cornice to hipped
roof with stack to right of centre, in front of ridge. Most other windows have
been replaced by purpose made steel windows put in original openings.
