12/2 Kings Worthy Grove


House. Circa 1830, altered mid C19. Yellow brick with white brick additions,
slate roof. 2 storey and attic, 2 gable by 2 bay house with H-shaped roof and
mid C19 single storey porch added to entrance front and single storey kitchen
added to rear. Garden front 2 gables, 2 storey and attic. Single storey mid
C19 bay in front of left gable with ornate stone balustrade at 1st floor level.
Original cast iron framed lead tented roof across whole of front but altered to
go round bay window. Right gable has large 12-pane sash with small edge panes
and louvred shutters. On 1st floor 2-light casements with small edge panes,
rubbed brick heads and hood mouldings in gables with single casement window
between. In gables 2-light casements. Overhanging roof supported off large
timber brackets at each end, but meeting at valley gutter. Eaves boxed and
on sides eaves-coved. Stacks at junction with cross roof with unusual mid C19
ornate terracotta pots. Inside interior complete C19 of 2 periods. 2 main
rooms face onto garden front with double doors between, moulded cornices, door
surrounds, wainscots and marble fireplaces. Behind small library with same
details, and large stairhall with rounded dog-leg staircase with large round-
headed window moulded cornice, door frames and wainscots in both hall and
landing. Other ground floor room is Butlers pantry and servants staircase.
