SU 42 SE COLDEN COMMON HENSTING LANE

8/45 Elm Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. IS 1719 refronting of earlier C17 building. Timber-frame
core encased in brick, part on flint plinth, all colourwashed, plain tile
roof. 2-storey, 4-bay outshot to rear. Door to screens passage in bay
to left of centre, C20 door in segmental headed solid frame under wide pent-
roofed porch. In cellar segmental head window to left bay. Right bay
added in later brick. In each bay C19 wide 4-pane segmental head sash
with 4-pane sash above and above door small light. Roof has end stacks to
original building, that to left external. Inside exposed stud walls and
heavy timber floors.
