9/86 Nos 9 (High Views) 10 & 11
Terrace of three houses. Early C18. Walls of painted brickwork in Flemish
bond, rubbed flat arches, some alterations. Tile roof, with plastered coved
eaves and wrought-iron brackets. A large house, later divided. Regular west
front elevation of two storeys seven windows. Mullion and transom casements.
No 11 has an original doorway at the third bay, with moulded pediment/canopy on
carved brackets, enclosing a carved ornamental frieze plain frame with 6-
panelled (2 topglazed) door, flight of spreading stone steps with wrought-iron
ornamental handrails. No 10 has a plain (lower) doorway at the fifth bay (with
a small window in the top of the original window), with a thin canopy, having
about it a carved ornamental frieze (similar to No. 11) and 6-panelled door.
No 9 has a doorway at the same lower level, between the fifth and sixth bay,
with a pediment/canopy on carved brackets, and C20 glazed door. Inside No.11,
a ground-floor room is fully panelled with C18 pitchpine panelling, with an
arched niche, and at the rear has timber-framing of earlier date. No 9 has a
C18 staircase (now to first floor only) in a staircase wing, and dado panelling
in the hall, and in a room having a corner cupboard.
