7/52 Porch House
II
House, formerly two cottages. C16 timber frame with C18 cladding. Walls have
brick and flint sections, also flint walls with brick quoins bands and cambered
arches, small exposure of the frame at the rear. Tile roof of two levels, at the
south side higher and steeper with a hipped end, wavy eaves board to part, two
flat-roofed half-dormers. Timber framed building which may have been shortened
and replaced c1800 by the present north side; west front elevation of one and a
half storeys and two storeys, 2.1 windows. Casements. At the junction of the
two parts there is a gabled C18 porch, of brickwork with a band linked to the key
to the arched opening, impost bands, small side openings (one with four small
turned balusters) decorative Victorian bargeboards, and boarded door in a plain
frame. Rear extension of one storey, of c1900.
